Madhuri Kamtam is a PhD researcher in International Development with a specialisation in Economics at the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom. Her research areas are Labor economics, political economy of development , gender, caste, econometrics, and social policy. Her PhD research looks at the labour laws, welfare, and collective action in home-based occupations with a focus on beedi industry in India. Madhuri completed her undergraduate degree in Economics(Hons) at Azim Premji University, Bangalore and MSc. in Development Economics at SOAS, University of London. She was extensively involved in fieldwork for her master's thesis in Telangana region to examine and analyse issues around labour and employment focusing on NREGA workers, mine workers, cine and beedi workers.
